Gadis Merah Jambu

Gadis Merah Jambu tells us the story of Zara, a talented girl who lives in the kampung and dreams of becoming a fashion designer.

Apart from sketching clothing designs, Zara’s life is filled with loneliness as her mother has been away in a hospital. Her father was accidentally killed by her mother during a violent fight when Zara was only 8 years old, causing the villagers to taunt her constantly.

Zara’s only confidant is Mail, her childhood friend who is not only loyal but also her protector from the village bullies. The death of her bedridden mother causes her to loose faith in life but Mail persuades her to be strong and achieve her dreams to be a fashion designer.

Meanwhile, in Kuala Lumpur, Zara’s aunt Mak Su Rina loses her boutique after being cheated by her friend Zetty. Mak Su Rina picks up the pieces by starting up another small boutique of her own. Zara moves to Kuala Lumpur to design for Mak Su Rina’s boutique.

In Kuala Lumpur, Zara bumps into Badri, the son of a very wealthy Datin Jah, who is focused on getting him married. Sparks seem to fly but, the conniving Zetty has plans to match her own daughter Sherry with Badri. To confuse matters, Mail turns up in Kuala Lumpur.

An opportunity knocks on the door when a fashion competition is announced. As Zara diligently works hard at her designs for the competition, she is unaware of the scheming that goes on behind her between Zetty, Sherry and even her own Mak Su Rina. Will Zara achieve her dreams of being a successful fashion designer and overcome the obstacles life has thrown at her?
